  1. Is it possible to reserve a specific make/model of vehicle?

    Active car rental will make every effort to supply the reserved model of vehicle. However, it is impossible for us to guarantee that a specific make and model will be provided. If the make/model of vehicle that you booked is not available then the rental agent will supply a suitable alternative from the same vehicle group classification or from a larger group.




  2. What age must I be to rent a car?

    Age limits vary greatly. For more information please consult the Rental Conditions of each car in particular.




  3. What documentation do I need on collection of car?

    On collection of your vehicle you need:
    - your rental voucher (which you will have received by email when your reservation was confirmed),
    - A full valid driver's licence held for a minimum of 2 years and
    - a major credit card in the driver's name.
    An International driving licence/permit is only acceptable as supplimentary ID when supplied with a licence from your country of permanent residence.

    Please note: Active Rentals are not responsible for overcharges on rentals where the voucher was not presented to the local agent on collection of the vehicle.
    Active can not be held responsible for rentals rejected if you do not present your voucher at rental desk. You must retain all your rental documents if you have a query regarding your reservation.




  4. When is a booking confirmed?

    A reservation is only confirmed once credit card details have been supplied and you receive a reservation voucher from Active Rentals. This voucher must be produced on collection of your vehicle.

    Please note: Active Rentals are not responsible for overcharges on rentals where the voucher was not presented to the local agent on collection of the vehicle.




  5. Where is my voucher?

    Vouchers are sent to the email address provided online at the time of reservation. The usual delivery time is 48 hours. If you have made a reservation and do not have your rental voucher, please check all spam/bulk folders of your email. If you still can not locate your voucher, please contact us and we will reissue the voucher to you.

    Please note that it is essential to present your voucher on arrival at the rental location to guarantee your hire.




  6. Do I need to buy insurance if I have credit card coverage?

    Active Rentals go to great lengths to find and offer competitive rates. As a result, it is not possible to have any part of the inclusive online rental package removed or waived from our rates.




  7. Why is my voucher missing information?

    "My PDF file opens but the screen is blank"

    • Try opening the PDF file in a new browser window

    • Close down your browser and then reopen the browser

    • Clear your web browser cache

    • Save the PDF file to your computer and then open it from Adobe Acrobat Reader


    • How?
      When the PDF file has opened, select Save As from the File menu.
      or
      PC Users - Right mouse click on the link and choose Save Target As
      Mac users - Click + Option on the link and select Save Target As

      Save the PDF file to a folder on your computer. Once the file has downloaded, locate the PDF file and double click the file to launch the file with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

    "I still can't read my PDF file"

    • Try opening the PDF in another browser if you have more than one browser installed on your computer

    • Upgrade to the latest version of your browser

    • Upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader

    And finally, for Apple Mac Users

    Don't use Apple's Preview application to open the file - save the PDF file to your computer and then open it from Adobe Acrobat Reader (see instructions above).




  8. How do I download Adobe Acrobat Reader?

    Click here to download Adobe Acrobat Reader.

    In Step 1, choose your language, your computer's operating system, and your connection speed.



    Step 2 will then appear. Ensure the checkbox Download the full version of Adobe Reader is checked.



    Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the continue button.



    On the next page, click the download button.

    Save the file to a location on your computer that you will remember.
    Wait while the file downloads.
    When the download is complete, locate the file you downloaded and double-click on it.
    Follow the instructions that appear to install Adobe Acrobat Reader.




  9. Can I have more than one driver?

    All rates quoted include one driver only. For more information, please consult the Rental Conditions.




  10. What is the excess (liability) on my rental?

    When booked online, Collision Damage Waiver Insurance is included in the rental rate. In the event of the car being damaged the driver is responsible for the insurance excess/deductible. Please consult the Rental Conditions for more information.

    Excess, deductible: This is the maximum amount you are liable for in the event of the vehicle being damaged or stolen while on hire.




  11. Is there a charge for picking up and returning to a different location in the same country?

    Each rental location supplies its own vehicles. Therefore, in most cases, a drop off charge applies when a car is left in a different location to where it was collected. These charges are shown, either at the top of the Quotation page when you selected your locations or in the Rental Conditions of the relevant Country.




  12. Can I drive to neighbouring countries?

    In most instances, vehicles can be taken outside of the Country of rental. More information can be found in the Rental Conditions.




  13. What is Argus Rentals Cancellation/Amendment policy?

    No charge for cancellations once 24 hours notice is given
    All cancellations must be made in writing (to info@activecarrental.com) or faxed to 00 353 1 490 6328 (and vouchers returned by post) and will only take effect from the date it was received in writing by Argus Rentals.

    Cancellation Charges:
    Over 24hrs notice No Charge
    Less than 24hrs notice FULL RENTAL
    No Show: 100% of Rental (please note proof of cancellation must be in writing).




  14. What do I do in the event of an accident?

    Please contact the office from which you hired the vehicle. You will find the contact information on your voucher and/or your rental agreement.
    The renter will be required to inform the rental agent immediately of any accident.
    The renter must take the following measures:

    - Obtain complete details of the persons involved in the accident as well as of any possible witnesses.
    - Immediately provide the rental agent with all the details regarding the accident, which may be of use.
    - Immediately notify the authorities if the third party should be investigated or in the event of injured persons.
    - Do not leave the vehicle without taking correct measures to protect and safeguard it.

    PLEASE NOTE NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE FOR A RESERVATION OR LOST RENTAL TIME IF VEHICLES HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT.




  15. How much deposit is required when booking vehicle?

    For the majority of online bookings, 20% of the rental is taken as the confirmation deposit. However, in some cases depending on country or availability the full rental amount is taken. Further information can be found in the Rental Conditions.
