THIS TOUR |
| Gozo Highlights,
History & Archaeology - Approx 8-9 hours
Take a step
back
relax
enjoy the breathtaking panoramas, and
admire the history of Malta's sister island Gozo. A
short and panoramic ferry crossing will take you to the
Island of Calypso, on the way, enjoying a mesmerizing
scene of crystal blue waters, the Blue Lagoon, and an
array of caves and sea inlets, spotted with the many
crafts making way between the Maltese Islands.
The first thing you'll visit in the tranquil island of
Gozo are the famous pre-historic colossal Ggantija
Temples, built by a female giant 5,000 years ago.
After enjoying a glorious panorama over a wide sweep of
the Gozo fields, valleys and hills, you will depart for
the Citadel in Rabat. At one time protecting the entire
population of Gozo within its walls, the giant bastion
of the Citadel dominates central Gozo, and contains a
beautifully maintained cathedral and museum, the
Knights' own conventual church in Gozo, on two occasions
serving as the venue for the sumptuous investitures of
the Grand Masters.
After lunch (any restaurant at your leisure) you will
visit one of the most natural spectacles of Gozo, that
of the Dwejra seascapes. The most popular attraction at
Dwejra is the Azure Window, a monumental limestone
archway created by thousands of years of sea erosion, a
mecca for photographers and scuba divers.
Before taking the ferry back to Malta, you will finish
your visit to Gozo by visiting the Xlendi Bay, a haunt
for artists and photographers, and lovers of the sea.
